New Vehicle Dealer License Types

The State of Florida offers several new auto dealer license types to individuals who wish to engage in the motor vehicle dealership business. Here are the different licenses available:

Vehicle Franchised Dealer (VF)

Franchised dealer (VF) allows a dealer to sell new motor vehicles through a manufacturer, importer, or distributor agreement.

Service Facility (SF)

Service facility (SF) license is for franchised dealers who wish to operate their service and repair facility at a location other than their dealership. No vehicle sales are allowed at this facility.

Vehicle Independent Dealer (VI)

Independent dealer (VI) license enables a dealer to buy, sell, or deal in used motor vehicles. This is the most popular new auto dealer license.

Vehicle Wholesale Dealer (VW)

Wholesale dealer (VW) license allows a dealer to buy, sell, or deal in motor vehicles only at wholesale with other licensed dealers.

Vehicle Auction Dealer (VA)

Auction dealer (VA) license enables licensed auction dealers to sell motor vehicles and recreational vehicles through the bidding process.

Salvage Dealer (SD)

Salvage dealer (SD) license enables a licensed salvage dealer to acquire salvaged or wrecked motor vehicles for the purpose of reselling them and their parts.
